OHB Cafe & Meal Chiang Mai: A Garden Cafe for Laptop Work

チェンマイのOHB Cafe & Mealの外観 Nomad

OHB Cafe & Meal was a comfortable place to spend an afternoon working in Chiang Mai. I stayed for more than three hours in the air-conditioned indoor area, with reliable Wi-Fi and a garden outside that made the surroundings feel pleasantly relaxed.

There is one practical limitation: I would not count on finding a convenient socket for a full day of laptop work. For a few hours with a charged battery, though, it worked well for me.

OHB Cafe & Meal at a glance

  • Area: Wat Ket, Chiang Mai.
  • My stay: more than three hours, indoors in the afternoon.
  • Wi-Fi test: 360 Mbps download and 380 Mbps upload.
  • My drink: Lychee Mint, 140 THB including VAT.
  • Payment: credit card accepted during my visit.
  • Best for: a relaxed work session with a charged laptop.
  • Watch out for: limited convenient power outlets.

A leafy garden and a cool indoor space

The garden is one of OHB’s nicest features. Trees, outdoor seating and a pond give the cafe a different feel from a busy roadside coffee shop. On a day that is not too hot, I would like to try working outside.

An option I would consider on a cooler day; I worked indoors on this visit.

This time I chose the air-conditioned indoor area. I was comfortable there for over three hours. Temperature preferences vary, but the room did not feel unpleasantly cold to me.

It was not busy when I arrived or when I left, and there were plenty of seats to choose from. I did not initially see anyone working on a laptop, but other customers began using theirs during my stay. Nobody asked me to leave. That is my experience from one visit, rather than a guarantee about the cafe’s policy during busy periods.

Wi-Fi worked well; power needs more planning

The Wi-Fi details were printed on my receipt, and I connected without any trouble. My Fast.com measurement showed 360 Mbps download and 380 Mbps upload, with 12 ms unloaded latency and 23 ms loaded latency.

More importantly, the connection worked smoothly during my actual work session. The figures are a snapshot from that afternoon; they will not necessarily be the same at another time or from another seat.

Power was less straightforward. I did not see many conveniently positioned sockets, and some appeared intended for the cafe’s own equipment, such as fans. I would arrive with a fully charged laptop and ask the staff before using an outlet. I would not disconnect any equipment.

For my purposes, OHB felt better suited to a few hours of battery-powered work than an all-day session that depends on staying plugged in.

My drink: Lychee Mint for 140 THB

I ordered Lychee Mint, which cost 140 THB including VAT. It was a smoothie-like drink with a clear lychee flavor. I found it pleasant, but it was more an easy drink to enjoy while working than something I would make a special trip for on its own.

I ordered in English and paid by credit card. Both were straightforward. I also used the toilet and had no particular concerns about it. I did not notice a complimentary self-service water station during my visit.

Location and practical details

OHB Cafe & Meal is at 88/8 Bamrung Rat Road, Wat Ket, Chiang Mai 50000. I reached it on foot and found the cafe without difficulty.

Opening hours: 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Check the current hours before visiting, particularly if you plan to arrive early or close to closing time. Menu prices and payment options can also change.

Would I work here again?

Yes—for the atmosphere and a comfortable few hours indoors. The garden, air conditioning and reliable connection made the visit enjoyable. On a milder day, I would be tempted to try an outdoor seat instead.

If having a guaranteed power socket is essential, I would check with the staff first or choose somewhere with a more obvious laptop-oriented setup. If your battery is charged and you want a relaxed change of scene, OHB is worth considering.
